My auntie Yukie arrived Port Lligat in 1973 by speedboat. Salvador Dali had invited a group of models across the border from France for a shoot. She had no idea who he was at the time, but everyone was asking for a photograph with him so she did too. (ask me for the polaroid when you come to stay). Catalunya never let her go. Fifty years on, she still invites the local fisherman to Christmas dinner, knows all the neighbours, points out which bodega serves the best tinto, receives insider info on the latest openings, and guides me to calas most people walk straight past. She is, quite simply, a living encyclopedia of the best Spain has to offer; its food, its wine, its culture, its people. This website exists because of her, and because the Costa Brava she knows deserves to be written down; wild, raw, fearless, and deeply delicious.
